We have just returned from a well earned and much needed wonderful family holiday, a few days in Liverpool and a week in gorgeous, sunny Turkey.
Did I eat healthy and workout? Pfft! Your kidding right! We were all inclusive! And the most exercise I did was walking up the stairs from our room to a lounger by the pool.
I don’t feel I’ve done too bad though having only gained 3lbs but I am however looking forward to getting back to my FitnessPod workouts.
Did I wear a bikini on holiday? Erm… No! As if!! I’ve not worn a bikini for 20 years and despite losing two and a half stone a dropping a dress size I certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable bearing my midriff in public.
However gazing around the pool I quickly realised that there was all shapes and sizes and my own flabby mummy tummy would not have been the odd one out.
It dawned on me that yes a few more pounds lost and several hundred sit-ups completed would make me happier with my mid area but actually what I need to work on is inside my head!
I was in awe of these beautiful ladies who no matter what shape or size had enough self confidence to dare to bear … and not care. So it seems I’ve got a way to go on that part of my fitness journey.
Over the next few months I’ll be continuing to work on my overall fitness and tone, particularly my abs, but I’ll also be working on my self confidence in the hope that by the time my next sunshine holiday comes around I’ll be courageous enough to strut my stuff in an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
